LAND SECURITIES

The pioneering, ethical and UK’s largest listed landlord were the first big name to come forward to in 2009 .  Since being featured on BBC Working Lunch alongside the ASTOP’s good cause, they have continued to support numerous activities around the country whenever possible.   The video on the home page gives a flavour of the positive publicity that Land Securities have enjoyed whilst supporting numerous projects in their locations including West London, Cardiff, Worcester, Sunderland, Exeter and Aberdeen.  The reuse charity Furnish, featured in the video were most grateful for the rent-free space, to try retail from a shop for the first time.  They have gone on become rent paying tenants with Land Securities in West London, with a long-term lease, because the pop-up concept proved so successful for the good cause.

PEARL AND COUTTS

As an agent and a landlord, Pearl and Coutts have worked ethically to reduce their empty rates costs around the UK.  Retail, office and storage locations have been provided to numerous charities.  The largest of which is a retail warehouse in Carmarthen that has been featured in local news and Welsh Channel 4 for its public facing reuse theme and being a local hub for good causes like Freecycle and a place where single parents are counselled by the NHS and can pick up free books for their children.

SAVILLS

The Shopping Centre management team have advised their clients on which of the numerous good causes interested in their centres are best suited to the expected duration, location and footfall profile for their centres around the UK.

BARCLAYS

As branches were closed or relocated under their refurbishment programme, over a dozen sites across the UK became good cause hubs right in local high streets offering a place for the elderly to socialise and knit clothes for a premature babies’ charity and pass their skills and stories to a younger generation that they would not normally meet.  The active use of the sites meant volunteers across were able to let the Barclays agents (DTZ/BNPP and then CBRE) know of any major issues on a timely basis, such as as major leak in the 4 storey branch in Leicester City Centre.
